The map we have used in the United States school system has been a lie. Jane Elliott, long time anti-racism educator, discusses how the world map should truly be and the issues we face when teaching children a fake perspective of the world we live in. She brings to light the world map manipulation that has been taught for years.

The YouTube video is brought to you by Popular Nation. Popular Nation explores the essence of life through video. Jane Elliott is an American diversity educator. As a schoolteacher, she became known for her “Blue eyes/Brown eyes” exercise. She first conducted her famous exercise for her class on April 5, 1968, the day after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. When her local newspaper published compositions that the children had written about the experience, the reactions (both positive and negative) formed the basis for her career as a public speaker against discrimination.
