Global Immersion Programs
The Global Immersion Programs at the World Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (WAIE) are overseen by the Unit of Global Engagement. Thus, all of our immersions have a global or world focused in the learning experiences students have the chance to participate in. Our immersions are categorized into one of three groups that provide a unique focus for the immersive experience students will have for their one-week to three-month experience.
Global Education Programs
Global Education Programs are heavily focused on the academic side of the experience and helps provide young scholars with content based learning in the region or country they decide to attend the program in.
The Arts Immersion
The Arts Immersion provides young scholars with an immersive experience in the visual arts of the region they are attending the program in. They’ll learn from local artist about the history of their art styles and begin building a portfolio utilizing that art style.
The Education Abroad program provides a four-month experience in another region for students. They live with a host family and attend the local school. While participating in the local learning they also experience some tourist and local activities.
The Global eXchange or Global X program is a shortened version fo the Education Abroad program. Students spend 14 days in another region while participating in tourist and local activities to learn about the culture and language of the people.
Community Building Programs
Community Building Programs are heavily focused on the social emotional learning experience and helps provide young scholars with leadership and team building skills with diverse populations from the region or country they decide to attend the program in.
Adventure Based Leadership
Adventure Based Leadership serves as the flagship program for WAIE. However, there are two versions of the program. The first program is exclusive to matriculating students and held three times a year to connect young scholars with one another while they build leadership skills and much more. The second version is open to all any youth who wishes to attend a leadership program in a state/country we offer the program.
The College Exploration program provides students the opportunity to visit post-secondary institutions they are interested in for a weeklong experience. Students have the opportunity to participate in sample college lectures, local tourists activities, and team building with their group.
Environmental Stewardship helps students become one with nature as they provide needed care to the earth while also building leadership skills and building a community with their peers. This weeklong program allows students to make a real impact on creating a better tomorrow.
The Service Learning program helps students support causes they are passionate about while also building community and leadership skills. The projects vary but provides students the chance to build houses for the homeless to working with animals, and many more topics of service.
Special Programs are created through initiatives and partnerships that WAIE has with the greater community. They provide young scholars the opportunity to gain an immersive experience, build community, and gain academic enrichment.
The Business Takeover provides students with real-world experience in operating a business. Participates gain the opportunity to receive training from a local entrepreneur and then manage their business, in a team, for the duration of a full day.
The Entrepreneurship Fellowship is a month long experience that provides students the opportunity to receive mentorship while working in teams on developing a new venture and conducting market research in order to create a go to market strategy.
The Think Tank program provides students an opportunity to serve as consultants to businesses who have problems they are seeking solutions for. Businesses submit challenges they are facing and students have the opportunity, in teams, to create solutions for the business partner.
Sports eXchange or Sports X provides students the opportunity to enhance their athletic knowledge and skills while also teaching others how to excel at a specific sport. Students sign up to travel and live in another location for a 14 day period where they work with coaches on improving their own skills before then working with youth in that local community to teach the sport and build community and cultural exchange.
